What Would Jesus Do…Today? November 18, 2008

I realize that this may seem disrespectful to some…let me assure you. It is.

We cannot candycoat the truth anymore. The church has to change if we are to be used again…

We cannot continue doing the same things expecting different results. It’s sad but the very white washed tombs that crucified Christ now occupy many of the churches of America today. This is not my Judgment, but God’s. I pray you see the deeper meaning…

1. The Paradox - November 21, 2008

I agree with the general sentiment that a great many Christians are not acting very much like their Christ. I have a slightly different idea of what the character of Christ would be doing in modern times – not entirely focused on the cliche examples of charity you mentioned.

By the way, while searching for a useless (completely irrelevant in modern times) verses in Leviticus (there are many) to counter Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, I found THIS! Ouch! Leviticus 19:28. Sorry buddy, Tattoos ARE evil.

2. Prudence - March 6, 2009

Tattoos are not evil. You have misinterpreted the verse. This was to correct the people of that time who were involved in occultic practices. It had nothing to do with the overall tattooing.
Out of the 80% of people who claim to be Christians less than 30% really know what it means. It means to be Christlike and how can you if you do not read the Word, which shows you what he was like.
Most importantly Christians need to be reading the Word regularly. Be sure you are praying for God’s wisdom to be with you while doing so. There are various scriptures that tell us to do this. It is by doing so we gain knowledge and wisdom. He also calls it our armor. When we know it we learn to trust him and understand him better so, that we are not afraid of man.
The Word/God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes.
Also, while reading the Word this should help you to understand the layout of the bible;
The old testament laws are no longer what we live by. When Christ died on the cross we now came under the new law. But anything that is in the old testament and the new testament means that that law still applies. If all Christians were really reading the Word, they would know what Christ expects of us and our hearts would change and resemble him more. That in turn would change our hearts to genuine love and care for others. We would then do what he calls us to do out of Love for him and others. I am living proof. He has greatly changed my heart. I came from an abusive past that left me angry at the world. Thankfully that has all changed.
Don’t give up hope on the Christians be praying for them. This world is a mine field. Lastly, if you belong to a church that is really judging you perhaps God is calling you to work to change that in your church. Keep in mind though, sometimes it can be our perception but may not always be true. Please give them the benefit of the doubt.
In modern times Christ would be and is doing the same as always…winning hearts to Him.
God bless
